Based on our sales for the first half of 2016, the top 10 scents of Yankee Candle in Singapore are:
#1 – Island Spa
Island Spa has been our number one bestselling fragrance every single year since Yankee Candle was launched in Singapore in 2009. This is the scent that reminds customers of their recent getaway to Bangkok; its lemon verbena notes often mistaken for lemongrass. Island Spa was launched in Spring 2007 but was discontinued by The Yankee Candle Company in 2014 to make way for new fragrances. The fragrance is so important to us that we manage to get Yankee Candle to produce Island Spa just for us. Singapore and Malaysia may be the only two countries you can still find Island Spa.
#2 – Lemon Lavender
Lemon Lavender nudged into second place this year (it was third in 2015). It may have to do with us celebrating the 10th anniversary of Lemon Lavender, drawing even more attention to this popular fragrance.
#3 – MidSummer’s Night
MidSummer’s Night was inspired by one of the most iconic perfumes of all time – Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche. It’s hard to imagine that MidSummer’s Night was created more than two decades ago in the summer of 1994 as it continues to be so relevant today. Island Spa may be our bestselling candle scent but MidSummer’s Night is our bestselling scent across all categories. MidSummer’s Night is tops for reed diffuser, car vent stick, car jar ultimate, and fragrance sphere. What’s fascinating is that this masculine blend of musk, patchouli, sage and mahogany cologne is loved by men and women alike.
#4 – Lavender
It’s no surprise that a fragrance such as Lavender makes its way to the Top 10 list. We have the most number of customers walking into our stores asking for a lavender candle. This long-awaited candle was only launched in Spring 2015. Without even first testing it as a seasonal fragrance, we immediately added Lavender to the planogram as a regular fragrance offered throughout the year.
#5 – Bahama Breeze
Fruity fragrances seldom do well for us. Bahama Breeze is an exception. This tropical blend of pineapple, grapefruit and mango is the only fragrance from the Fruit family that made it to the Top 10 list. I guess it’s hard not to like a candle that smells like fruit punch.
#6 – Pink Sands
Pink Sands is probably the most successful fragrance that Yankee Candle has launched in the recent 5 years. You can find the fragrance in many forms – scented candle, reed diffuser, car vent stick, car jar ultimate and fragrance sphere etc. The beautiful mix of bright citrus, sweet florals and spicy vanilla have won many fans over.
#7 – Beach Walk
Beach Walk reminds you of a stroll down the beach with the salt air splashing your face. It was launched in Summer 2008 and quickly became a bestselling fragrance worldwide.
#8 – Kilimanjaro Stars
The Out of Africa collection launched last Fall was a hit internationally. The collection comprises of four fragrances: Egyptian Musk, Kilimanjaro Stars, Madagascan Orchid and Serengeti Sunset. Kilimanjaro Stars did very well for us too when we launched it in October 2015. It was immediately added to our planogram to be made available throughout the year as a regular fragrance.
#9 – Summer Wish
Summer Wish continues to be our bestselling floral fragrance. It is the only fragrance from the Floral family to make it to the Top 10 list. Summer Wish is as subtle as a warm breeze of soft flowers and fresh grass. Although loved by many for its light, faint scent, it is also for the very same reason we get complaints from customers who are trying Summer Wish for the first time that they can’t smell anything.
#10 – Egyptian Musk
Along with Kilimanjaro Stars, Egyptian Musk was added to our planogram this year. It didn’t disappoint and managed to make it to the list. It’s a captivating musk with hints of vanilla bean and cedarwood.
